WebTV
by Claudia Sonea
It's getting old the whole talk around this subject. There are so many that want a piece of the project, that I won't be surprised if any time now it will become a reality. Bill Gates is terrible angry because people doesn't seem to understand the importance of such an invention. Besides the wannabe YouTube- a web site with short videos, mostly ads or music clips- BBC has launched the iPlayer, an online catchup service that will offer the possibility of watching again all the programs for seven days after transmission. Also Channel 4 has the 4OD on-demand is working since last December, but only on Windows, so it is a drag for those with Mac. Project Kangaroo, which would operate as a single access point for all TV channels on the web, is only a rumor and if you want hearsay: the BBC's director of new media and technology, Ashley Highfield, wants to create TVs with internet TV into cable. Technology is about to barge in our lives and overwhelm us. The fact is that we love mastering things and being in the trend. Surfing is an every day activity and the computer has become part of our daily timetable. Nowadays, more and more use the Internet. All this fuss around the Web TV is old, because people were already attempting to find solutions to an online broadcast. BBC's iPlayer it is nothing we haven't heard about, it is only one step forward to the fulfillment of the goal of mastering the TV programs in order to fit our taste. No more coach potato, but computer freak. Gigaspeed ahead to a new site.
